The Magic Kinder website used to have a ton of flash games available based on their Kinder egg toys. The games covered a lot of genres (Puzzle, Platformers, etc.) and also had animated cutscenes.

These games can no longer be accessed anymore via the website, tried using the wayback machine but so far all the archived versions are broken and missing loads of assets, flash games included.

I've got the most memories playing games based on the Robot Cat and Dog toys, they were puzzle games set in a different time periods such as a medieval castle and a circus. After completing each game you would receive a piece of a spaceship, your progress was tracked over each game with the goal of rebuilding the spaceship. Unfortunately I can't remember ever getting all the pieces.

Some of the other games were a Baby Firefighter themed side-scroller and a potion making game based on the Monster Hotel toy line. I've found these productionportfolios from designers who worked on the website that have some of the animation that was made, including brief footage of a racing game. There's also this video from 2017 which shows the website in action with more gameplay.

Some effort has been made towards recovering these games, a Christmas themed one and another based on Tom and Jerry have apparently been found by someone on the Flashpoint archive. Also another game called 'Zio Medusa' has been uploaded to the internet archive, but from what I can tell everything else remains lost.

I remember watching some surprise eggs videos and in the old eggs there was a code to put on a website. Are those the games you are talking about?

i looked on the files of the game "zio medusa" and i found multiple image and other .swf files
"game.swf" is the full game
"char.swf" and "anim.swf" is a fully white screen
"base.swf" is the background of the game, the only interaction we can do is press the "Magic Kinder" logo who goes to a dead link
here a screenshot of it

Possibly, I can't remember ever needing a code to access the games, they were all available straight away.

Ah gotcha, looked into the magicodes a bit more, found this wiki pagewhich has some info on them.

Also found this website, looks like the codes could be used to either play games or download content from the website.

So it could be a possibility that does games are rare because you need a code (that's also a case for one popular lost game in Serbia)

That seems to be the case for some of them, was looking back at the 'Zio Medusa' archive and the person who uploaded it said this:

'This version of Zio Medusa was once stored on a USB flash drive that you'd find inside the "Ovetti" product (small chocolate eggs) as a surprise in Italy around 2013. Judging by the date on "play.html" it seems like the game was created in 2007.'

Looked it up and it seems that some kinder eggs came with a USB stick in the shape of a character, which would have a game stored on them.

So far it seems that it games we're accessible in three ways:

  • On the magic kinder website as a flash game
  • Using a code you would get inside a surprise egg
  • Through a USB stick that came with the egg

Something to remember is that the magic kinder website has been live since 2001, there could possibly be over 20 years of lost games. According to the kinder wiki, magicodes were phased out in 2015 and replaced with QR codes that linked directly to the website. When considering this timeframe it doesn't seem that impossible that some pages may of been archived somewhere.

Woah, i never saw that video, that's so cool! I hope that someone finds those surprise eggs with USBs and post them online (or maybe someone will buy sealed surprise eggs and put them online however that's unlikely)

Yeah it would be great! I feel like the USBs should be the easiest to archive. It already happened with Zio Medusa so fingers crossed another one appears soon.
